"My class wanted to do something nice to help all the people who were in the Hurricane Katrina. My mom had bought some bands from you for our church and so we thought we could do the same thing to raise money for Katrina. My whole 5th grade class worked hard to let the people in our school know about it, and we raised a lot of money. We made enough to buy all the bands we needed and also enough money to give right to the red cross. It makes me feel good to know I helped people who needed help."

"My daughter and her 5th grade class at Alpine Elementary worked hard on a fundraiser for their school to raise money for Katrina. It was wonderful to see 10 & 11 year olds feel such a drive to do this. For those of you affected, know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all. It is wonderful to see people bonding together, helping one another. May God continue to be with you."

"I spent ten days helping with hurricane Katrina relief in New Orleans. I went into devasted neighborhoods with the National Guard (they are AWESOME)and dropping off food, water, dolls, personal products, snacks and sometimes, just hugs to New Orleanians too proud to ask for help. It was a life-changing event for me. I now understand why soldiers say they want to return to their units when they're injured, because all I want to do right now is go back and help those in need. They helped me as much as I helped them...maybe more. God bless you all. My body may be back in Maryland, but my heart is still in Jefferson Parish, St. Bernard's and Orleans East, Louisiana. "
